A metallurgical company was using a cartridge-type dust collector to capture emissions from metal smelting. Because of the high rate of wear, the dust collector had to be replaced. Steel melting caused a lot of sparks, so the company was faced with major fire and leakage problems.
Concept-air skillfully took on this daunting challenge.
Concept-air suggested the company install an optical spark detector equipped with a water spray system to extinguish them. The spark detector then found that 30 to 50 sparks were continuing to form every hour.
In addition to installing a new, more efficient dust collector, Concept-air implemented an effective spark extinguishing system. As a result of this remarkable improvement the company now only observes about one spark per week.
